About The Position

AECOM New York Metro Office is seeking a Bridge Inspection Assistant Team Leader. The critical responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Conduct rigorous field inspections in strict accordance with the requirements outlined in the NYSDOT Bridge Inspection Manual. Meticulously prepare comprehensive inspection and flag reports, ensuring all documentation is accurate, detailed, and compliant with regulatory standards. Provide authoritative supervision to the Team Leader Assistant and access equipment vendors, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment. Execute thorough quality control reviews of work produced by team members and colleagues, maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and completeness. Contribute substantial expertise to the development of technical proposals, leveraging industry knowledge and best practices. Provide accurate and detailed estimates for engineering budgets and schedules, considering all aspects of bridge inspection projects. Coordinate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors, and internal departments, to ensure smooth execution of inspection projects. Identify and report potential structural deficiencies or safety hazards, recommending appropriate corrective actions. Stay current with evolving industry standards, technologies, and best practices in bridge inspection and maintenance. Mentor and train junior team members, fostering their professional development and enhancing overall team capabilities. Participate in the development and implementation of safety protocols specific to bridge inspection activities. Assist in the preparation and presentation of findings to clients, stakeholders, and senior management. Contribute to the continuous improvement of inspection methodologies and processes within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering plus 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid U.S. Drivers license.

Nice To Haves

  • Long span bridge inspection experience.
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License or ability to receive in one year.
  • Experience in Bridge inspection.
  • Ability to complete NHI Course No. 130055 "Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges", or NHI Course No. 130056 "Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges for Professional Engineers".
  • Demonstrate proficiency in working at significant heights, utilizing various access equipment including ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts. Must possess the physical capability to climb, navigate confined spaces, and operate effectively under adverse weather conditions.
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of personal computers in Windows environment and demonstrate full proficiency with NYSDOT inspection and load rating software.
