About The Position

We are seeking a Bridge Inspection Team Leader to join TYLin's Bridge Sector. This position will report to the Principal Bridge Engineer and will require a minimum of 7 years minimum of experience in bridge inspections, rehab design, and load rating. In this role you will be responsible for leading inspection teams, writing reports, conducting load ratings, creating Maintenance of Traffic plans, operating equipment, performing nondestructive testings, and preparing related documents. Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering.
  • Engineer-In-Training Certification required.
  • Eligibility and ability to pass PE test within 2 years required.
  • At least 7 years' bridge inspection experience.
  • TxDOT pre-certified in 6.1.1 Routine Bridge Inspection Team Leader and 6.2.1 Complex Bridge Inspection Team Leader.
  • NHI certifications required: NHI 130055 - Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges Training NHI 130053 - Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges Refresher
  • Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel and engineering software.

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in TX, or the ability to obtain one in 6 months

Responsibilities

  • Perform DOT routine bridge inspections and lead inspection teams.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analysis for the load rating of bridges.
  • Familiarize him/herself/themself with engineering plans and details.
  • Perform quantity take-offs.
  • Assist with project monitoring and scheduling.
  • Perform calculations as needed.
  • Assist progress reports.
  • Develop production work plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Conduct independent quality control.
  • Other assignments as needed.
  • Guide and mentor junior staff.
