As a Team Leader for the Structural Assessment practice at Consor, you will be responsible for leading inspections in the field to protect the traveling public. You will use various access methods for these inspections to gain visual access and take appropriate pictures to update the previous report and collect any concerning data. These structures will include mostly bridges; but also tunnels, culverts, ancillary signs and any potential structure to ensure public safety. You will have a good balance between field and office work that will include creating and checking the reports that we deliver to our clients so these structures can remain in use. You may be involved in the scheduling of inspections, client interaction, load ratings and rehabilitation design as fits your skill set and interests. If you don't want to be stuck at a desk everyday and want variety, this is the engineering role for you.

  • Inspections of assigned bridges and preparation of written reports on the conditions of the structures.
  • Performs and leads in-depth inspections using non-destructuve testing methods, mechanized access equipment and/or climbing gear.
  • Performs post-incident bridge inspections to determine severity of damage and recommendations appropriate actions with regard to bridge closures and detours.
  • Coordinates with bridge owners and other agencies on inspection schedules, traffic control, railroad access, navigational channels, etc.
  • Lead teams and groups in Structural Assessment, which may include providing general instruction, assigning and reviewing work, coaching and training, providing guidance and instruction in the proper and most efficient methods of accomplishing tasks, and providing input to the direct supervisor on staffing decisions and performance management.
  • Ability and experience to lead the work of others, communicate and maintain proper working relationships.
  • Possess knowledge of bridge inspection methods and procedures.
  • Experience with report procedures.
  • Any experience with National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) as a bridge inspection assistant and be Team Leader qualified with NHI.
  • Must be able to perform inspections in the field with various means of access.
  • ADCI Diver certification or SPRAT level 1 or higher is a plus depending on contracts you can be involved with
