About The Position

Coffman Engineers is seeking a Bridge Engineer (three to five years) for employment in our Spokane office with the opportunity to support our Olympia, Seattle, Burlington, and Portland offices. Our primary marketplace is Washington, Oregon, and Idaho with other potential opportunities across the United States. The successful candidate will be independent, self-motivated, energetic team player who is looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity within a dynamic and progressive firm. The successful candidate for this position will assist in managing, designing, and detailing bridge projects of a variety of sizes and complexity. The candidate will have the ability to network with clients of a diverse culture of private, local, state, and federal agencies. The work is predominantly office based. However, some work in the field will be required at times. Working in a variety of environments with the appropriate safety procedures and equipment may include working at heights, confined spaces, near highway vehicle traffic and ariel lift platforms. This position is not eligible for sponsorship.

Requirements

  • A BSCE degree with emphasis in bridge/structural engineering. MSCE preferred with emphasis in bridge/structural engineering.
  • Three to five years of experience with bridge design, seismic assessment, in-service inspection, bridge load ratings, repairs, and rehabilitations
  • Professional Engineer License
  • Strong technical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent leadership, supervisory, and writing and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications and any Department of Transportation (WSDOT, ITD or ODOT) bridge design, bridge standard details, bridge design manuals or construction standards and protocols
  • Experience with computer analysis software systems including AutoCAD, PGSuper, Risa 3D, MathCAD, and Bluebeam Revu
  • Experience working as part of a multi-discipline design team
