About The Position

We are currently looking for a dedicated and professional, temporary full-time short order breakfast cook to join our team at Element San Jose Milpitas. This position is specifically designed to provide coverage while a permanent team member is on a protected maternity leave of absence. The role is expected to last approximately 5-6 months, though this may be subject to slight adjustments based on the returning employee's schedule. Expected start date February 2026. Expected end date between June 2026 - July 2026. Please note that this is a finite, temporary assignment . While this position does not guarantee permanent employment upon the return of the employee on leave, it is an excellent opportunity to gain experience within our organization.

Requirements

Bachelor High School Diploma or Equivalent, 1-2 years of kitchen experience
Fluency in English is required.
Spanish speaking is a plus
Food service permit as required by local or state government agency/ food service and/or certification required by franchise
Leadership and customer service skills
Culinary ability; food and event oriented
Planning and organizational ability during high traffic

Responsibilities

Cook made-to-order items as according to a standardized rotating recipe
Maintains standards of food and beverage quality and safety
Responsible for monthly inventories and initiates programs to reduce breakage and loss in glassware and silverware.
Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
Prepare items needed for the breakfast period as well as oversee preparation of the needed items for the evening reception.
Restock items that were depleted during the shift and make sure to maintain proper storage procedures specified by Health Department and Hotel requirements.
