About The Position

Amentum is a leading global supplier of automotive test facilities, offering a comprehensive range of services to the commercial automotive industry, including major vehicle providers, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and international motor sports clients. Their extensive experience covers virtually every type of automotive test facility, such as climatic and driveability wind tunnels, aerodynamic, acoustic, and thermodynamic wind tunnels, emissions test rooms, soak rooms, altitude chambers, engine and powertrain test cells, and electromagnetic anechoic chambers. Amentum not only designs and builds these facility systems but also operates, maintains, and manages them. The Automotive Breadboard Test Technician is an entry-level, full-time position located in Dearborn, MI, designed to provide individuals interested in vehicle testing with an opportunity to learn and grow within the industry. This is an employee position with Amentum, not a contract role, and includes a generous benefit package.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • US Citizen
  • Knowledgeable and proficient with hands on automotive work
  • Strong knowledge of automotive parts and subsystems and how the systems work/interact
  • Electrical background, strong and proficient understanding of electrical automotive systems, schematics, excellent soldering skills
  • Knowledge of the vehicle CAN bus and various other communication tools
  • Strong instrumentation background, build custom cables, connectors etc.
  • Strong background in computers, Microsoft office programs (CAD, VIZO, MATLAB, Solid Works a plus)
  • Good Fabrication and Machining abilities
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Nice To Haves

  • Associates’ degree or equivalent in an electrical discipline
  • Two (2) years or more of relevant experience in electrical work

Responsibilities

  • Work with the installation and assembly of electrical instrumentation, modules, sensors, power supplies, load boxes, inverters etc.
  • Fabricate breadboards and build up to test ready
  • Trouble shoot breadboard issues and provide customer support
  • Use oscilloscopes/meters/logic analyzers to diagnose/troubleshoot electrical issues
  • Checkout electrical systems and verify per specification/drawings
  • Design test fixtures, harnesses and test boxes to meet client specifications
  • Develop new test fixtures/loads to simulate vehicle components
  • Specify and select electrical components to support electrical designs
  • Safety of yourself, all personnel, and the lab
