About The Position

The Box Machine Operator makes all the boxes for shipping of products. Individual must understand the operation of the box machine and all its safety features and guidelines. Individual is also responsible for quality work. Individual must maintain the area surrounding the box machine area. Individual coordinates with the upcoming shift to meet any needs that may arise regarding changeover. Essential Functions: Starts up and shuts down the machine. Conducts the basic functions of the box machine. Comprehends and operates the basic programs of the machine. Monitors the enhanced dispatch list. Understands the box link dispatch list. Runs the lift and roller system used for all cardboard. Selects the different fan-fold cardboard used in operation of the machine. Handles an air glue gun. Drops cardboard appropriately in the cardboard drop area and manages scrap/trim from boxes. Operates the cardboard crusher safely. Drive forklift to carry fanfold to machine. Presence in the workplace is an essential function of this job. Additional Functions: Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Understands the Jonti-Craft computer system by which the box machine operates. Knowledge of the metric system as well as the metric tools necessary to operate the machine. Knowledge of all emergency shut offs and stops or resets. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Keen awareness of all safety requirements. Understanding of all gluing procedures. Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language for safety purposes in an understandable manner. Forklift certified Ability to learn basic fourth shift functions for the machine. Working Conditions: Our production environment is typical for wood manufacturing and includes a variety of environmental elements including loud noise, dust, and aromas. While this is an indoor operation, temperatures will vary with the outdoor temperature and some areas of the shop may be hot or cold. Worker may be subject to vibration. Worker is subject to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles and/or heat. Physical Requirements: Production positions are physically demanding and may be strenuous. They are standing positions and include frequent walking, lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds. There are a lot of body movements, including extending arms, grasping with hands, and flexing of wrists. There may be a lot of bending and twisting. Each position requires ongoing rotations of movements and workers must have the physicality to perform the essential functions. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and push or pull up to 150 lbs. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
