What You'll Do Maintain garden beds: planting, weeding, mulching, pruning, watering, and seasonal display changes Support volunteer horticulture crews and assist full-time staff with day-to-day garden operations Perform general grounds work: edging, sweeping, litter/debris removal, and supply transport Safely use equipment and chemical agents under supervision, including small machinery and pesticides Assist occasionally with greenhouse production, facility upkeep, and event set-up/tear-down What You Bring At least 18 years old with three years of high school completed Experience in gardening, landscaping, or related work preferred Ability to safely operate one-ton trucks, small utility trucks, or large delivery vans Works well independently and in a team, maintains neat appearance, follows oral and written instructions Strong communication skills Why Work for the City of Fort Wayne Join a team that cares for one of our city's most beautiful public spaces, gain hands-on horticulture experience, and help create inspiring gardens for the community to enjoy.
