About The Position

CAPTRUST is seeking an Associate Bookkeeper to assist in managing our client’s day-to-day accounting and investment accounts. Excellent organizational skills and accuracy are important qualifications for this position, as well as good client relations and the ability to communicate clearly. The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled multi-tasker, is reliable and is committed to consistently meeting deadlines. Most work is geared towards investment and tax compliance. Preparation of estate and gift tax returns for our Family office clients is an additional responsibility in this role. The position is responsible for adding to the team's efforts in all client activities including tax planning, compliance, estate and gift tax return preparation and executing all tax projects effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, accounting career path preferred.
  • 1 to 3 years of accounting, tax, and/or bookkeeping experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in Tax from an accredited university (preferred)
  • Relevant exposure to accounting, bookkeeping, or tax-preparation services
  • Experience with financial management tools: Quicken and QuickBooks
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask
  • Strong work ethic, professional demeanor, and focus on client service
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate highest personal ethics and integrity

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate book balancing and maintenance. Includes efficient download of bank deposits and provide regular financial reports to management and clients
  • Accurately record client petty cash and credit card expenses and proactively request supporting documents
  • Create comprehensive monthly financial statements, including cash flow, profit and loss statements, and balance sheets for internal use
  • Thoroughly prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual federal and state sales tax and payroll reports
  • Create Real Estate Investment Reports, create Trust and Estate Reports
  • Meets and corresponds with other advisors or professionals including attorneys, CPAs, and other professionals to collaborate on servicing shared clients.
  • Work with clients directly.
  • Supports with annual tax returns preparation and reviews for individuals, trust, and business entities using tax software; this may include reviewing prepared returns or preparing returns for review
  • Add value to internal meetings by actively engaging in and being prepared for rigorous discussions centered around tax process, tax preparation issues and other matters that impact the effectiveness and efficiency of the tax team
