About The Position

The Body Shop is an integral part of this Company’s success. The Body Shop Manager is responsible for accurately documenting the customer’s needs and recommending related repairs and services. The Body Shop Manager will monitor the repair progress and notify the customer of any unexpected costs and repairs that may be needed and ensuring the customer understands and approves the additional repairs. The Body Shop Manager will also direct and coordinate activities concerned with scheduling and performance of body shop duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Requirements

  • The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
  • The ability to listen and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing or verbally so others will understand
  • The ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
  • The ability to resolve complaints and problems as they arise from customers and employees
  • The ability to perform basic math as well as calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, and statistics
  • The ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry Interact well with managers, customers, and the general public
  • Interpret financial statements and apply that analysis to the operations of the department
  • Analyze complex business problems and initiate multifaceted solutions
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and must meet insurability requirements
  • High School Graduate or GED
  • Diploma from Technical College or 10 years’ On the Job Training
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills
  • 5 years’ experience in heavy-duty truck repair

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree preferred
  • Valid CDL preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the body shop
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees
  • Plan, assign, and direct body shop technicians on work needed to be done
  • Meet with body shop technicians and review their performance, rewarding and disciplining employees as necessary
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems in a timely manner
  • Plays a key role in the marketing of the department and services offered
  • Tracks key performance reports and makes adjustments accordingly
