Appraises vehicle damage to determine cost of repair for insurance claim settlement while having an open relationship with the customer. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Duties include but are not limited to the following: Examines damaged vehicle to determine extent of structural, body, mechanical, or interior damage. Estimates cost of labor and parts to repair or replace each damaged item. Reviews repair cost estimates with body shop manager or foreman. Determines feasibility of repair versus replacement of parts, such as bumpers, fenders, and doors. Ensures that all customers are receiving necessary updates on their vehicle. Contacts customers upon receipt of parts and schedules work in a timely and efficient manner. Gives accurate promised times and notifies customers immediately of any changes or delays. Provides periodic status updates to customers on a timeline established by the Body Shop Manager. Performs a quality control check and inspects each vehicle after repairs are completed. Completes and closes all repair orders and files repair orders and related documents. Evaluates practicality of repair as opposed to payment of vehicle market value before accident. Determines salvage value on total vehicle loss for direct repair insurance companies. Prepares insurance forms to indicate repair cost estimates and recommendations. Estimates cost of repainting, converting to special purposes, or customizing undamaged vehicles. Maintains professional appearance Occasionally maneuver around and underneath damaged vehicles This position requires the ability to walk, sit, use hands or fingers, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. You will regularly be asked to climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk/hear. You will occasionally be asked to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
