About The Position

Manage materials used in automotive body exterior installed assemblies or systems. Depth of knowledge in one or more basic materials used in automotive body exterior components such as resins, elastomers, metals, and fluids. Understanding of compatibility of basic materials associated with secondary operations such as painting, rubber bonding, electroplating, etc. Develop and maintain global material and performance specifications, evaluate, and approve supplier products to these specifications. Direct suppliers in the development and application of appropriate materials. Support material cost reduction initiatives. Review, provide input, correct, and approve engineering drawings and bill of materials for Teamcenter / 3DX Notices. MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND /OR SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Education Required Bachelor of Science in Material Science & Engineering, Materials Engineering or Chemical Engineering. Other related Engineering/Technical Engineering Degree considered. Experience Preferred Minimum of 3 years of Materials Engineering experience in automotive materials is preferred. Primary Skills Required Automotive materials knowledge in metals, coatings and plating, resins, elastomers and adhesives. Excellent organization, communication, and presentation skills, self-motivated and self-driven. Ability to develop new laboratory test methods to predict field concerns. Ability to manage complex data sets, develop conclusions and identify next steps. Ability to work with multiple disciplines (STA, Engineering, Research, Laboratory and Design). Ability to describe the operating environment in which the components/systems function. Ability to describe the compatibility of the basic materials within the Ford manufacturing and processing environment including Tier 1 suppliers. Develop and manage materials engineering foundation documents and update for prevent recurrence: Material and Performance Specifications Laboratory Test Methods Material Strategies and Design Rules Material property data in Material Center Database Experience in D/PFMEA, Global 8D, failure analysis and prevent recurrence. Provide root cause analysis and materials and process expertise to support resolution for manufacturing and field issues. Complete proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook. Being self-motivated, curious, along with organization and communication skills are critical for this position.

Requirements
