About The Position

The Maryland Department of Labor(MD Labor), Occupational and Professional Licensing, is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Administrative Officer I. This recruitment will be use to fill current and future vacancies. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year after the closing date of the announcement. Administrative Officer I is administrative work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans or policies. Employees in this classification are assigned administrative responsibilities involving the analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvements. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • One year of administrative staff or professional work.
  • Candidates may substitute 30�college credit hours from an accredited college or university for�the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included�regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required�experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the daily activities of the Board including examining, qualifying, licensing and regulating electricians. Schedules and prepares for monthly meetings including agenda preparation and documentation of action taken and official minutes. Provides initial evaluations on adequacy of the applications and complaints. Is responsible for providing all materials necessary for Board decision making discussions. Is responsible for communications with all professional, complainants, individuals testifying before the Board. Executes and communicates all Board actions including request for information, approvals, denials and disciplinary actions for professional practices.
  • Assist in the development of regulations and interpretation for the needed entities. Works with the staff of the legal department and the division in developing legislative proposal and implementing enacted legislation.�
  • Consults with division management, legal counsel and other departmental or divisional staff as appropriate regarding Board policies/procedures and interpretation�
