About The Position

The Blood Gas Laboratory Coordinator, under the direct supervision of the Manager of Respiratory Care, directly manages and supervises all functions of the laboratories and instruments. Assumes responsibility for laboratory and personnel compliance, competency, quality assurance, fiscal management and services. Works collaboratively with department directors and managers, QI teams, to interpret data and identify opportunities to improve clinical outcomes through evidence-based medicine. The Coordinator will maintain clinical competency by providing direct patient care. Performs duties involved with the treatment, management control, and diagnostic evaluation and care of patients with deficiencies and /or abnormalities within the Pulmonary system.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a Respiratory Therapy program.
  • If credentialed after 2002, must maintain active membership status for credentials issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • Active ASBRT RRT licensure required
  • Active NBRC RRT required
  • BLS required
  • Additional certifications (ACLS, NRP, PALS, etc) may be required depending upon area assigned.
  • Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to successfully complete work within rigid time constraints.
  • Must possess reasoning ability and good independent judgment.
  • Position requires sitting for 20% of the workday and mobility 80% of the workday.
  • There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
  • There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action.
  • Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 15 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds.
  • There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person.
  • Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range.
  • Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • Minimal noise levels.
  • Much exposure to computer work.
  • Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock.
  • Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks.
  • Some exposure to hazardous chemicals.
  • Occasional exposure to radiation.
