This position involves being outside in all weather conditions, lifting and carrying up to 60 pounds of product and other materials as needed, and frequently requires squatting and bending. As a new employee, you will complete a 24-hour or 8-hour MSHA Part-48 training course with one of our instructors, be given Hazmat training, and a road test. You will often complete a 10-hour OSHA course and be trained on various State requirements. We want you to know how we operate. Your normal day will start off by arriving at each job site ready to get to work. In some cases, you will go directly to the job, in others you may need to drive a truck to the site. Once on the job you will evaluate the area for safety concerns, read the drill log, measure holes, ensure products are laid out and communicate with the site management and your blast crew to keep everyone informed. You and your crew will load the holes as designed and detonate the shot. Once you fire the shot you will complete a post blast audit and complete your paperwork. As the Blaster in Charge, we expect you to be in charge. So, work with the customer to ensure both their and our needs are met but remember, safety is always a priority.
