About The Position

Operates blast equipment and metalizes using the knowledge of steel properties and customer specific blast work instructions to ensure quality and production needs are met.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of materials, production processes, quality, raw materials and other techniques, methods and tools involved in the process of fabricating steel support structures.
• Understanding of blasting equipment, tools and materials.
• Ability to efficiently and independently operate forklift and vertical/basket lift.
• Ability to properly use blast hose, trunnions, pipe wrench, screw drivers, and other hand tools to perform functions of the job.
• Able to locate and reference all work instructions pertaining to current job or project.
• Understanding of department KPIs, metrics and measurables.
• Sense of urgency and accountability.
• Must pass respirator test.
• Must be forklift certified and vertical/basket lift certified.

Nice To Haves

• One year of blasting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Blast product per customer specification
• Fully understand and perform all aspects of work instruction
• Operate blast hose and safety devices associated with it
• Operate trunnion to rotate section during blasting process
• Perform operator maintenance as required
• Communicates section status with appropriate departments
• Maintain cleanliness of work area
• Record job and section information in time matrix
• Actively support all EHS and continuous improvement initiatives
