ProSidian Seeks a Biological Scientist, Physiologist - Aerospace Medical Research (AMR15) headquartered near CONUS - Oklahoma City, OK to support requirements for Aerospace and Defense Sector Clients. This CONUS - Oklahoma City, OK | Biological Scientist, Physiologist - Aerospace Medical Research (AMR15) Contract Contingent position currently best aligns with the Biological Scientist, Physiologist Labor Category. Ideal candidates exhibit the ability to visualize, analyze, and convert data and experiences to meet performance challenges while confidently engaging in productive “Jugaad” and dialogue targeting mission success. ProSidian Team Members work to provide Gov't. - Federal (USA) Sector related Human Capital Solutions for Aerospace Medical Research and Technical Support Services on behalf of The Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI). Biological Scientist, Physiologist - Aerospace Medical Research (AMR15) Candidates shall work to support requirements for (Aerospace Medical Research Services) and shall work as part of a team in support of Aerospace Medical Research efforts. The candidate will complete tasks and activities contributing to deliverables and core mission functions in the Aerospace Medical Research space. Must perform the following tasks as required by the Aerospace and Environmental Physiology Research Team: - Act as the Principal Investigator to plan, research, design, and execute aeromedical experiments with limited supervision to accomplish Aerospace and Environmental Physiology Research Team objectives. - Perform these experiments in the altitude physiology research laboratory, altitude (hypobaric) chamber, normobaric hypoxic environment, and other research facilities/test beds. Aeromedical research topics include, but are not limited to: altitude stress, cabin environmental control systems, methods of detection/protection from environmental threats, hypoxia training devices, protective breathing equipment, modeling tools to assess and predict physiologic impairment or incapacitation, and the adequacy of current and emerging technology at altitude or in aviation environment situations. - Perform human subjects experiments in compliance with Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements and federal regulations - Obtain and maintain Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) certification in human subjects research and related certifications (e.g., CPR/AED, Basic First Aid) when necessitated by research projects. - Maintain records in laboratory notebooks of all laboratory and experimental work performed. - Assist the Aerospace and Environmental Physiology Research Team to collect data, analyze results, perform statistical analyses, generate graphs/charts, and document findings from laboratory experiments. - Summarize his/her work, write technical reports at a quality level consistent with publication in peer-reviewed journals, and provide briefings/presentations to technical groups and professional organizations. - Translate and incorporate experimental research results into FAA program development, policy, and the rule-making process. - Maintain and calibrate physiology laboratory equipment and instruments in compliance with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) requirements and internal laboratory procedures. - Provide professional consulting services. - Review and evaluate technical literature and apply scientific knowledge and principles to study aeromedical and aviation related safety issues. - Provide technical analysis for recommendations involving FAA operational safety issues, aircraft certification, aircrew certification, in-flight emergencies, and other biomedical related issues. - Attend regular laboratory meetings of the Aerospace and Environmental Physiology Research Team and provide updates of his/her work status on request. - Provide all data, analyses, results, and documentation/writings to the Aerospace and Environmental Physiology Research Team.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Physiology, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or the life sciences.
  • 10 years of experience after receipt of doctorate performing research in an exercise physiology or aviation physiology laboratory.
  • Experience as a Principal Investigator leading research projects involving human volunteer subjects.
  • Experience with Institutional Review Board (IRB) practices and procedures.
  • Experience in experimental research design and statistical analyses (e.g., descriptive, inferential, and multivariate) to include experience with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, SAS).
  • Experience performing invasive and non-invasive clinical measurements on human subjects (e.g., heart rate, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, respiratory gas collection, EKG, etc.).
  • Experience using e-mail and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • The ability, to pass a FAA Class II physical examination.
  • The ability to climb ladders, life moderately heavy objects, tolerate enclosed spaces, and be subjected to moderate but rapid changes in temperature and altitude
  • U.S. Citizenship Required - You must be a United States Citizen
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, & Adobe)
  • All ProSidian staff must be determined eligible for a “Facility Access Authorization” (also referred to as an “Employment Authorization”) by the USG’s designated Security Office.
