Join GE Aerospace Research and change the world! Our teams push the boundaries of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision to solve the hardest problems in aerospace—today and for the generations to come. We explore new frontiers in autonomy, perception, and learning to power safer, cleaner, and more capable aerospace systems. Our work spans the spectrum: advancing sustainable aviation, charting pathways for widespread beyond-atmosphere exploration, and strengthening national security with innovative, mission-ready technologies. As a Research Scientist – AI, you will: • Design experiments that probe the limits of what’s possible in learning systems for real problems —and learn fast from the results • Build, analyze, and refine AI/CV algorithms inspired by both theory and data • Prototype novel systems that move from simulation to lab to flight-relevant environments • Translate fundamental discoveries into scalable tools used across design, manufacturing, testing, operations, reliability, and lifecycle management You’ll collaborate with a diverse cohort of scientists and engineers across disciplines and GE Aerospace business units, tackling complex AI challenges from physics discovery to understandability, uncertainty management to edge environments. You’ll also contribute to government-sponsored research with world-class partners in academia and federal agencies—work that shapes the field and accelerates the Future of Flight. Our work here emphasizes open-ended questions, rigorous experimentation, and building solutions that matter, looking out beyond what is done today. This role puts you at the edge of that discovery. Help define what AI and Computer Vision can do for aerospace—and expand the frontiers of human understanding along the way.
