About The Position

The Penn Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD) Center is seeking a Bioinformatician who will develop and apply statistical theory and methods to support research in neurodegenerative diseases including frontotemporal degeneration (FTD), Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and related neurological disorders as well as healthy aging studies. The candidate will contribute to study design, data analysis, interpretation of results, and collaborate with investigators to ensure scientific rigor and meaningful outcomes in observational and clinical trial human subjects research. They will perform data analysis and data management for multi-disciplinary datasets spanning clinical, life course, and biological (e.g, genomics, neuropathology, biofluids) data sources from primary or secondary sources. Applies a range of statistical, computational, and machine learning methods to research data. Provides guidance and training to junior analysts, students, and postdocs in the use of bioinformatics tools and analytic approaches The candidate may additionally perform supervised research on research topics of their choice within the scope of neurodegenerative and aging research. It is anticipated that there will be publication opportunities. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team at the intersection of clinical, environmental, and genetic data. The successful candidate will interact with a broad range of investigators studying mechanisms of neurodegenerative disease and aging and have the opportunity to contribute to projects with translational and public health impact.

Requirements

  • Master of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Position is contingent upon continued funding.
