About The Position

The BIM Coordinator owns the development, coordination, and maintenance of accurate MEP and LV cable tray models and construction documents across assigned projects. This role drives model-based coordination with architects, engineers, general contractors, and trade partners—running clash detection, leading issue tracking, and pushing conflicts to resolution. The BIM Coordinator leverages coordination platforms and reality capture to ensure models meet project requirements and directly support efficient field installation.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of MEP systems, LV conveyance and installation methods.
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD and Navisworks Manage (or similar 3D modeling and coordination tools)
  • Ability to translate contract documents into coordinated shop/installation drawings and models with attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with project teams and trade partners.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
  • Familiarity with construction coordination processes (RFIs, submittals, shop drawings) and how they impact model updates.
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bluebeam (or similar PDF markup tools)
  • AutoCAD
  • Revit
  • Navisworks Manager
  • 3-5 years of BIM experience supporting commercial construction projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or similar construction related degree
  • BIM-related certification (e.g., Autodesk BIM certification, CM-BIM, or an accredited college BIM program)

Responsibilities

  • Own model federation by aggregating discipline-specific models into a master model and maintaining data consistency, alignment, and version control.
  • Own assigned modeling workload across one or more projects, prioritizing tasks and meeting coordination and deliverable deadlines.
  • Ensure model quality by enforcing BIM execution plans, project standards, and document requirements through ongoing reviews and corrections.
  • Drive clash detection by running analyses, logging issues, assigning actions, and verifying conflicts are resolved in the model.
  • Maintain and apply BIM execution plans, templates, and standards for assigned projects, and hold project modeling practices to those requirements.
  • Own coordination action tracking by maintaining logs, communicating due dates, and reporting status to keep the coordination schedule on track.
  • Manage electronic file exchange and model distribution through approved project platforms, ensuring teams are working from current information.
  • Lead coordination communication with internal teams and external design partners to obtain required information and close open issues.
  • Own model updates during construction by incorporating approved changes, field-verified conditions, and as-built information into models and drawings.
  • Lead coordination and clash-resolution discussions and drive items to closure by confirming updates are implemented and re-coordinated.
  • Drive continuous improvement by applying lessons learned and training to strengthen modeling standards, coordination workflows, and project delivery.
