About The Position

The Center for Victims of Torture works toward a future in which torture ceases to exist and its victims have hope for a new life. We are an international nonprofit dedicated to healing survivors of torture. We offer rehabilitation services to those who have been tortured, train partners around the world who can prevent and treat torture, and advocate for human rights and an end to torture. We are headquartered in Minnesota, and we have US offices in Georgia and DC, as well as offices in Africa and the Middle East. The Center for Victims of Torture is hiring a Bilingual Case Manager to provide case management services for the Proyecto Mariposa project on site at partner locations in Southern Arizona and via telehealth. This position will primarily provide remote tele-case management to asylum-seeking families as they move throughout the United States. Responsibilities will include on-site screening and intake assessment, referrals within destination communities, and trauma-informed support for families in movement. The position will also contribute to new program development and collaborate with partner organization staff and volunteers. Position open to: Candidates located in the Tucson, Arizona area who are authorized to work in the U.S. and will not need CVT to sponsor them on a work visa. Remote status: Position is partially remote. 50% in-office and 50% remote. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, international studies, or equivalent work experience
  • 2 years of experience in direct services with migrant, immigrant, refugee or asylum-seeking populations or equivalent education plus work experience
  • Fluency in Spanish
  • Demonstrated understanding of the US immigration system
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, recognize appropriate boundaries and cope with emotionally stressful situations
  • Knowledge of or ability to seek out community resources
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple priorities and one’s own schedule
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite (Outlook, Work and Excel)
  • Interest in or commitment to human rights

Nice To Haves

  • License-eligible in Arizona (bachelor’s level social work license)
  • 3 or more years experience providing direct support in a social services agency with immigrant communities or in a migrant shelter
  • Experience working with diverse communities
  • Experience and knowledge of trauma and trauma-informed care principles

Responsibilities

  • Direct Case Management: Assess, plan, and coordinate needs of clients as they move to destination cities in-person and via telehealth platforms.
  • Map, develop and coordinate community referrals to facilitate stabilization and settlement in destination communities.
  • Assist clients in obtaining needed biopsychosocial services.
  • Inform clients of their rights regarding mental health, social services and immigration services.
  • Partnership collaboration: Collaborate with local and national partner staff and volunteers on managing referrals and intake for CVT services, and providing support as needed to partner staff.
  • Client Documentation: Conduct and complete screening and intake documentation.
  • Conduct needs assessment and destination services planning.
  • Complete case notes and paperwork.
  • Review and update care plans.
  • Document community referrals and contact information.
  • Team Collaboration: Participate in clinical supervision, case consultations, and informal consultations as needed.
