The primary responsibility of the Highly Qualified Paraprofessional is to assist the teaching staff in carrying out instructional activities. The duties of the Highly Qualified Paraprofessionals are to assist students individually or in small groups with instructional needs or daily assignments that are planned by the teacher. Specific tasks may include the following: Read with individual students or read stories to small groups Give Assessments to students under the direction of the classroom teacher or assessment team Assist with instructional projects Assist the teacher in preparing and maintaining materials for instruction Supervise clean-up activities Supervise and assist students during school activities such as: Field trips Recess Transportation Cafeteria or eating area, gym, pool, periods of rest, or other places of congregation Greeting and dismissing students
