About The Position

The Bilingual Medical Front Desk Coordinator is responsible for providing a superior patient experience by cheerfully greeting patients, building relationships, scheduling recurring appointments, verifying insurance eligibility, and performing effective general front office duties. This position is based in our Riverview, FL location with training in our Tampa office about half the time during the first thirty (30) days.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Advanced clerical skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft Outlook, Phreesia, AllScripts PM, and EHR/EMR experience
  • 2 years medical front desk/customer service experience, preferably in an orthopaedic spine or chiropractic office
  • Intermediate knowledge of neck and spine medical terminology and PIP Letters of Protection
  • Bilingual Spanish both verbal and written required
  • Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to effectively understand, follow, and communicate oral and written instructions in English.
  • Must read, write, and speak English fluently to ensure clear work-related communication and patient safety.
  • Able to train in our Tampa office about half the time during the first thirty (30) days.
  • Ability to safely lift, push, and pull up to 20 pounds occasionally
  • Able to spend prolonged periods sitting at a desk while working on a computer, standing, and walking

Responsibilities

  • Makes follow up appointments in AllScripts
  • Schedules patients to allow enough time for care and treatment between appointments.
  • Tracks follow-up appointments with patients and follows up on cancelled appointments in Phreesia.
  • Prepares daily charts for physicians and physical therapist at least one workday in advance.
  • Promptly and cheerfully greets patients on arrival, checks them in, validates insurance, verifies completeness of paperwork, gathers x-rays, collects co-payments/deductibles/co-insurances at time of service, and efficiently checks them out.
  • Reviews all charts for completeness and accuracy, collects appropriate information, and ensures proper electronic filing of HIPAA protected health information by securely scanning and indexing documents.
  • May place calls to hospitals and imaging centers to obtain relevant patient results and imaging.
  • Translates front desk discussions/documents between Spanish and English-speaking patients, physicians, and clinical staff as authorized by HIPAA.
  • Ensures patient confidentiality and diligently protects patient health information per HIPAA.
  • Reconciles End-of-Day cash, checks, and credit cards.
  • Performs other related duties as directed or assigned.
