About The Position

The Health Educator is deeply embedded in HTHP’s health promotion activities. The Health Educator is responsible for planning, executing, and documenting educational workshops, adapting curriculum, supporting clinic flow, and conducting health counseling at Teen Tuesday Clinic, participating in community outreach, supporting intern and volunteer projects, and leading additional youth enrichment activities and programs. Responsibilities also include social media development and engagement.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in public speaking and teaching health education workshops
  • Bilingual English/Spanish capacity with the ability to teach workshops in Spanish
  • Ability to translate and develop materials in Spanish
  • Experience working in health promotion and sexual and reproductive health
  • Proven history of excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Experience working with professionals in schools or community-based organizations
  • Commitment to adolescent health, equitable healthcare access, reproductive justice, and antiracism.
  • Proficiency in Canva Design
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Highly organized, creative, innovative, and communicative
  • Ability to take initiative and work proactively
  • High level of professionalism and ethical standards
  • TB Clearance
  • Valid CA Driver’s license, clear DMV record, and reliable transportation
  • COVID-19 Vaccination
  • Must pass DOJ/FBI background check. Due to our requirements with licensing, candidates with backgrounds including items on the non-exemptible crime list will not be eligible for employment at this time.

Responsibilities

  • Independently or collaboratively facilitate bilingual (English/Spanish) virtual and in-person health workshops in schools and community settings, covering topics such as consent, bodily autonomy, healthy relationships, contraception, STI/HIV prevention, and effective communication.
  • Adapt and develop bilingual (English/Spanish) sexual and reproductive health workshops consistent with program goals and California Healthy Youth Act standards.
  • Conduct sexual and reproductive health counseling for youth clients during Teen Tuesday Clinic, both in person and via telehealth, providing accurate information, non-judgmental support, and linkage to appropriate services as needed
  • Assist in maintaining efficient clinic flow and provide lead support during Teen Tuesday sessions
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation for all aspects of programming, including clinic services, workshops, and peer health education activities
  • Develop health promotion tools and resources for youth, professionals, and parents
  • Responsible for the development of social media health promotion content and engagement
  • Prepare and support the facilitation of peer health education programming and maintain communication with peer health educators
  • Support intern and volunteer projects
  • Participate in community outreach, events, and conferences
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, in-services, growth plan and regular supervision
  • Answering office phones and providing referral support for other programs
  • Occasional evening/weekend/early morning work required
