About The Position

Compass Family Services is a 100+ year old nonprofit working on the front lines of San Francisco’s homeless crisis. We provide families experiencing or at risk of homelessness with comprehensive support to address immediate needs and ensure long-term success. About the team: - The Compass Family Resource Center (CFRC) offers a comprehensive set of trauma-informed services that support family well-being. Homeless and at-risk families can access immediate crisis support and get connected with parenting education, support groups and classes, case management, housing search, workforce services, and support. - Compass Behavioral Health Services (CBHS) offers confidential emotional support and therapy for families who are experiencing homelessness, at risk of homelessness, newly housed, or engaged in any other Compass program. Services include on-demand crisis counseling, psychotherapy for individuals and families, children’s play therapy, and therapeutic support groups. The Case Manager provides comprehensive, family- centered case management services including program enrollment, needs assessments, and personalized service planning to families enrolled with Compass Behavioral Health Services (CBHS).

Requirements

  • Fluent Spanish and English required.
  • Experience working with people in crisis.
  • Demonstrated understanding of issues facing homeless and low-income families.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including relationship-building, networking, and ability to develop trusting relationships with a diverse set of individuals.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging work.
  • Outstanding work habits: punctuality, communication, reliability, cooperation, organization, professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently and to juggle many responsibilities concurrently.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Suite of Programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).

  • Salesforce experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop positive relationships with families that foster connection, support, and trust.
  • Partner with families to develop short and long-range stability, self-sufficiency and well-being goals.
  • Provide counseling, crisis intervention, and referrals to services offered both within Compass and externally.
  • Connect with families regularly through in-person meetings, community visits, and phone, email, or text.
  • Work closely with Compass Family Services staff, service providers, community partners and institutions to provide a coordinated approach to client care.
  • Participate in weekly supervision, team meetings, trainings, clinical support, and professional development.
  • Maintain comprehensive, up‑to‑date client records by accurately documenting case notes, assessments, and service plans in Compass’ Salesforce database and other required data systems in a timely manner.
  • Provide support as needed for the delivery of family events, parent education groups, outreach activities and site visits.
