About The Position

We are currently hiring a Full-Time BI Data Engineer II hybrid in Boston, MA. Join our Boston-based Data and Analytics (DnA) team and play a key role in building and evolving our Enterprise Data Platform. This position offers the opportunity to work across a wide range of data engineering initiatives, delivering high-impact analytics solutions that directly support business decision-making and strengthen our data ecosystem. As a multi-faceted role, you’ll collaborate closely with stakeholders while owning the full data engineering lifecycle—from requirements gathering and solution design through development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support. You’ll work hands-on with modern technologies including the Databricks Lakehouse platform and our On-Premise SQL data warehouse to build scalable, reliable data pipelines, analytical data models, and contribute to platform and architecture work. We are moving toward domain-oriented team, and this position will be primarily assigned to one or more business areas (to be determined), giving you the opportunity to understand specific business needs while contributing to enterprise-wide solutions. This role is ideal for someone eager to grow their expertise in Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake, and cloud integrations, while contributing to enterprise-level data quality, governance, platform improvements, and production-ready solutions in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. A Hybrid position at Boston Beer requires that our coworkers reside within commuting distance to be onsite 3 days/week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or a closely related field, or the equivalent
  • Databricks and Spark: 2–5 years of hands‑on experience with Databricks notebooks, Spark transformations, and Delta Lake for scalable
  • Programming & SQL: Strong Python, Scala, and SQL skills for building and maintaining data pipelines.
  • CI/CD & Automation: Exposure to automated deployment pipelines using tools such as Azure DevOps and Databricks Asset Bundles (DABs) for reliable, production-ready workflows.
  • Data Quality & Governance: Understanding of enterprise data quality checks, security practices, and governance frameworks.
  • Collaboration & Problem-Solving: Ability to work effectively with analysts, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and optimize pipelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Data Modeling: Familiarity with dimensional modeling and Power BI for analytics-ready datasets.
  • ETL/ELT & SQL Server: Experience designing, developing, and supporting relational database pipelines and SSIS workflows.
  • AI & Analytics: Experience or familiarity with AI, machine learning, or analytics frameworks is a plus.
  • Domain & Systems Knowledge: Knowledge of CPG, Supply Chain processes, Salesforce, or SAP is a plus.
  • Collaboration & Project Tools: Experience with Jira and Confluence for project tracking, documentation, and team collaboration
  • Scripting: PowerShell experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Databricks-first data engineer, designing, building, and supporting scalable Lakehouse data pipelines (ETL/ELT) using Spark and Delta Lake.
  • Develop and maintain Databricks notebooks, workflows, and jobs, with secondary support for On-Premise SQL Server integrations.
  • Build analytics-ready data models in Databricks, supporting limited dimensional and reporting models on SQL Server as needed.
  • Drive data ingestion, migration, and integration between Databricks and On-Premise systems as part of platform modernization.
  • Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, business stakeholders, and all teams under the Data Enterprise organization (including Data Operation and MDM) to translate requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions
  • Optimize Spark jobs and Databricks workflows for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Implement enterprise data quality checks, security best practices, and governance standards across Databricks and SQL environments.
  • Support production pipelines with CI/CD and automated deployment for reliable, repeatable releases.
