About The Position

We are seeking a Data Engineer to join our growing Big Data team. In this role, you will design and implement data models, build semantic layers, create data extracts, and develop robust data pipelines to ingest data into our data warehouse. You will collaborate with BI developers, data analysts, and data scientists to support a variety of data initiatives. The ideal candidate is self-directed, highly organized, and comfortable managing the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products. This is a hybrid position: 4 days per week onsite in Middleburg Heights, OH following initial 3 month/5 day onsite period. Visa sponsorship not available.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering, including building and optimizing ETL processes, data pipelines, and datasets.
  • Strong understanding of data engineering principles and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience working with structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Proven ability to analyze datasets to answer business questions and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated success working with cross-functional teams in dynamic environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience with Snowflake, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric, and Python.
  • Experience with C# and/or Java is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Scrum/Agile development methodologies is a plus.
  • Medical billing knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) from diverse sources into our Snowflake Data Warehouse.
  • Perform data analysis, mapping, and validation across multiple sources and formats to produce consolidated data models.
  • Assemble large, complex datasets to meet technical requirements for reporting, extraction, and analytics.
  • Define and implement semantic layers on top of data models for reporting and analytical purposes.
  • Create custom data extracts to support ad-hoc reporting requests.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, including automation of manual tasks, pipeline optimization for scalability and performance, and data model enhancements for query efficiency.
  • Support Data Science initiatives by creating and automating pipelines for model training datasets.
  • Maintain and optimize the Snowflake environment, including monitoring consumption, configuring warehouses, managing role-based security, applying environment changes, and evaluating new functionality.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders such as BI Developers, Product Owners, Data Scientists, and Architects to resolve data-related technical issues and support infrastructure needs.
  • Ensure compliance with PHI and HIPAA standards and guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
