About The Position

Benefits Specialist - Hybrid Opportunity This is a hybrid position based at our corporate office in Brentwood, TN, with on-site work required Monday through Wednesday. The Benefits Specialist is responsible for supporting all areas of the day-to-day operations of group benefit programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, accident, critical illness, flexible spending plan, health savings plan and 401k). The specialist provides excellent customer service to the Human Resource team in the field. And as needed, provides special guidance and assistance to the Human Resource teams at all locations on various employee benefit plans. The Benefits Specialist provides analytical and technical support in the administration process of the benefit programs and provides billing support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • HRIS systems experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels; both internal and external.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of office administration procedures with the ability to operate most standard office equipment.
  • Ability to work professionally with sensitive, proprietary data & information while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Exercises sound judgment in responding to inquiries; understands when to route inquiries to next level.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and superior attention to detail.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously within inflexible time frames.
  • Ability to adapt to frequent priority changes.
  • Capable of working within established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the organization.
  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations affecting employee benefit programs, including ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, Section 125, Social Security and DOL requirements.
  • English sufficient to provide and receive instructions/directions.

Responsibilities

  • Provides customer support to HR team in the field.
  • Performs daily benefit processing, to include; enrollments, qualifying events, COBRA, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, QMSCO, compliance testing.
  • Maintains employee benefit files and updates employee payroll records via weekly benefit file upload.
  • Prepares and executes required filings and notices, to include; ACA, CMS, Medicare Part D, 5500.
  • Processes monthly billing and preparation for payment for all group benefit plans.
  • Assists in the administrative functions and benefit system preparation of the benefit plan renewal process.
  • Assists with correcting Error Reports that are generated from electronic benefit files sent to carriers, to include; Medical, Dental, Vision, COBRA, FSA, 401k and Life and Accident policies.
  • Supports corporate employees with all benefit related questions, issues and concerns.
  • Handles benefit inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution.
  • Assists in the maintenance of administrative functions for assigned benefit processes.
  • Assists with benefits projects as needed.
