The Benefit Services Intern will support the Benefits team with the administration and management of employee benefit programs. This role is ideal for a detail ‑ oriented, organized individual interested in gaining hands ‑ on experience in benefits administration, client benefit plan implementation, and compliance processes. The intern will work closely with team members to ensure data accuracy, assist with Open Enrollment preparation, and support audits and compliance-related processes including COBRA administration and ACA data review.

Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Interest in benefits administration preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing desk-related tasks.
  • Prolonged use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse, requiring repetitive motion.
  • Ability to lift and carry office supplies or equipment up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional bending, reaching, and twisting to retrieve files or supplies.
  • Ability to walk throughout the office, including moving between different departments or meeting rooms.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and via phone or video conferencing.
  • Ability to focus and maintain attention for long periods while working on various tasks.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with client benefit plan set-up.
  • Support COBRA administration.
  • Assist with ACA (Affordable Care Act) data collection and review to ensure compliance and reporting accuracy.
  • Process employee benefit enrollments, including Qualifying Life Event (QLE) changes.
  • Participate in benefits audits to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
  • Support Open Enrollment (OE) preparation.
