About The Position

Samaritan's Purse is seeking a Benefits Leave Specialist to join our Human Resources team in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. In this role, you'll help care for employees by managing, tracking, and reporting leaves of absence across the ministry. In the role of Benefits Leave Specialist, you will have the opportunity to: Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him. Serve as the main point of contact for all things related to leave of absences, reviewing information to manage and track all complexities of certified and reported leaves, including Federal Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Paid Family Medical Leave (PFML), and state-mandated regulatory plans Analyze and secure information to accurately determine eligibility and leave entitlement Manage and administer leave workflow when it pertains to leave management strategies, ensuring decisions are communicated to managers and to the impacted employees promptly Monitor paid time off accrual calculations in the HRIS System, reviewing HRIS tasks related to leave requests Identify discrepancies and outstanding issues, and secure additional documentation as needed while administering or tracking leaves Analyze leave data and report findings to leadership, researching and making recommendations on leave solutions while ensuring compliance Provide responsive and caring service, along with accurate and appropriate information to employees and other stakeholders Handle and process requests as it relates to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), seeking legal counsel as needed Learn more about serving with Samaritans Purse.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, and two (2) to four (4) years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Working knowledge of Federal Medical Leave Act (FMLA), state-mandated regulatory leave programs, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Effective organizational and interpersonal skills, including written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with proven ability to handle a variety of activities and complexities spanning the organization
  • Familiarity in tracking data in either Excel and/or a leave software program
  • Working knowledge of HRIS systems is required; specific experience in Peoplesoft is preferred
  • Fluency in English (required)
