The primary purpose of this temporary position provides education on benefits and offers scheduling support to patients living with HIV . The employee will conduct financial needs assessments both in the ID clinic and by phone to determine each patient’s level of need and program eligibility. They will educate patients on a range of benefit programs and financial assistance options for which they may be eligible. These programs include North Carolina HIV / AIDS Medication Assistance Program, Medicaid/Medicare/Federal marketplace insurance, UNC Financial Assistance, UNC Pharmacy assistance, pharmaceutical company assistance, and other co-pay assistance programs. The employee will guide patients through complex application processes and provide ongoing support throughout their enrollment. Responsibilities also include referring patients to appropriate programs, following up on these referrals, and helping patients navigate available resources effectively. In addition, the employee will support patient engagement in care through outreach by phone, text, secure medical record messaging, and written correspondence. Administrative and scheduling duties may also be assigned, such as scanning documents, scheduling appointments, calling patients, and data entry. Referrals may be made to other clinic personnel as needed. The employee will track and manage incoming patient documentation, maintain accurate and timely notes in the electronic medical record ( EMR ), and enter relevant information into program-specific databases and Excel spreadsheets.
