About The Position

According to prescribed policies and procedures of the organization including all applicable state, federal and accreditation regulations and under the general supervision of Director of Total Rewards, assumes responsibility for managing and maintaining benefit programs. Informs and advises employees on benefit programs including eligibility, coverage and provisions.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 2-4 years of related benefit experience required
  • Must have good communication, comprehension, computer and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have the ability to speak, read, write and understand English
  • Must have working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills are a must.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first point-of-contact service for employees with general benefits, leave, and accommodation questions.
  • Respond to inquiries via e-mail or phone with a sense of urgency, establishing clear expectations for updates and resolutions if not resolved within one interaction.
  • Assign incoming emails to appropriate team members and file incoming communication.
  • Complete administrative and clerical functions related to unique benefits tasks such as confirming weekly retirement plan deferrals and loan files have processed accurately, approving new hire and qualifying life events (QLEs) in HRIS, confirming supporting documentation for dependent eligibility verification and QLEs, and other similar tasks.
  • Guide employees through the enrollment process, including benefits orientations and information sessions for new hires as requested.
  • Submit benefit invoices for approval after confirming bill is accurate.
  • Track reconciliations and corrections as necessary to ensure proper credits and charges.
  • Ensure invoices are received and processed in expected cadence (monthly, quarterly, annually).
  • Audit ACA reports monthly for changes for new eligibility.
  • Provide offer of coverage when appropriate and track for response.
  • Prepare basic eligibility reports and census reports as requested.
  • Prepare and submit various items to Payroll including but not limited to monthly company HSA contributions, wellness contributions, fitness and tuition reimbursement requests.
  • Review of initial Workers’ Compensation claims.
  • Reach out to manager and employee for additional information as needed.
  • Ensure reporting system is updated with ongoing communication and supporting documents related to claim.
  • Escalate severe injuries as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with leave administrator for lost time claims.
  • Oversee benefit premiums for employees on leave; moving to direct bill and crediting employee profile when payments are made to ensure accurate balances upon the employee’s return to work.
  • Complete and submit medical support orders/notices and employment/benefit verifications.
  • Provide backup relief to Benefits team during times of absence; provide higher level of assistance on occasion and escalate issues as appropriate to ensure employee service levels are maintained.
  • Assist as needed in planning benefit events such as health fairs, biometric screenings, Open Enrollment, etc.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and collaborate with other functional areas within HR.
  • Stay informed about and ensure compliance with relevant state and federal laws such as COBRA, ACA and ADA.
  • Provide ongoing support for benefits and HR teams.
  • Miscellaneous tasks and projects as needed.
