About The Position

The Benefits Coordinator verifies patient benefits and manages patient’s accounts according to MSPB standards. Will organize and keep all pertinent patient information in correct patient’s files. This position will verify patient eligibility, coordinate benefits, and determine patient coverage/financial responsibility for services. Will also ensure all benefits are checked prior to scheduled appointments; will verify and review coverage with patient and determine estimated financial responsibility of patient; will create payment arrangement schedules as necessary. Medical Specialists of the Palm Beaches, Inc. (“MSPB”) is a FAST GROWING primary care-focused, multi-specialty physician group practice serving Palm Beach and Broward counties. Responsibilities

  • Verification of benefits for patients prior to appointment
  • Insurance verification then entering the information properly into healthcare system software, marking all information regarding co-pay, referral obligations and balance from patients before patient checks in for appointment.
  • Insurance authorizations, obtained in a timely manner and entered into healthcare system software
  • Ensure correct modifiers are added to charges appropriately and understand the LCDs associated with procedures performed in the practice.
  • Assist patients regarding insurance questions either in person or via telephone
  • Obtain insurance referrals or authorizations, ensuring all referrals are obtained prior to patients appointment and entered into healthcare system software
  • Keep up to date with insurance plans each physician (or practice) is participating in
  • Manages patients accounts receivable
  • Responds to patient needs.
  • Sort, scan, and file a variety of medical records and information into electronic patient chart in appropriate sections.
  • Manage task list on a daily basis for review and completion of tasks.
  • Sort daily USPS and courier mail and distribute to appropriate departments.
  • Check email on a regular basis throughout the day
  • Other related duties or responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
