Requirements

  • Qualified applicants must have completed High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of hospital patient access, insurance verification or revenue cycle experience is required.
  • Requires a working knowledge of health insurance (Commercial, Medicare/Medicaid, Managed Care Plans).
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office applications) and previous experience with hospital registration systems is required.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with Case Management, Utilization Review, and Billing Office to support compliant billing practices.
  • Verifies eligibility, benefits, coverage limits, authorization, admission notification for inpatient and observation accounts.
  • Supports up-front and point-of-service collection efforts by providing patient liability estimates. Escalates for resolution of financial risk issues. Performs patient registration functions when needed.
  • Participates in audits, quality reviews, and denial prevention initiatives
  • Visits patients prior to discharge to discuss financial arrangements and provide financial assistance.
