The Benefits and Leaves Specialist plays a key role in supporting the well-being of our team by managing employee benefits and leave of absence programs. This position ensures accurate administration, compliance with applicable laws, and clear, empathetic communication with employees navigating their benefit and leave options. This position is based in our Deerfield Beach, Florida corporate office. What Would You Be Doing? Benefits Administration Administer benefit programs including health, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement plans. Manage enrollment, changes, and terminations in the HRIS. Act as a liaison between employees and insurance carriers to resolve issues. Conduct benefits orientations for new hires and lead open enrollment activities. Ensure compliance with COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, and other regulatory requirements. Review and audit benefit invoices and coordinate with payroll/finance for timely payment. Leave of Absence Management Administer and track leaves including FMLA, ADA, parental, military, and other statutory or company-sponsored leaves. Educate employees on leave policies, eligibility, and documentation requirements. Maintain up-to-date leave documentation and ensure timely, accurate communication. Coordinate with payroll, managers, and third-party vendors to support return-to-work processes. Compliance and Reporting Maintain confidentiality of employee data and leave records. Stay informed of changes to federal, state, and local laws affecting benefits and leaves. Prepare and deliver reports on benefits utilization and leave trends for HR and leadership. Employee Support and Communication Provide prompt and empathetic responses to employee questions. Create and distribute benefit and leave-related communications and resources. Support wellness initiatives and coordinate benefit-related events or campaigns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in benefits and/or leave of absence administration.
  • Strong working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, COBRA, HIPAA, and other related regulations.
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in sensitive situations.

Nice To Haves

  • HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus.
