About The Position

The Exclusive Medical Assistant for Behavioral Health provides both administrative and clinical support to healthcare practitioners specializing in behavioral health. This role ensures the efficient flow of patient care by performing tasks such as scribing, assisting patients with telehealth appointments, and conducting assessments as needed. The ideal candidate will work closely with providers to support high-quality patient care and maintain compliance with healthcare standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required, no prior experience necessary.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a high-stress, physically demanding environment.
  • Understanding of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA confidentiality and infection control measures.
  • Proven track record in delivering exemplary customer service, with strong client relationship management and job knowledge.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with electronic health record systems and basic computer skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Manual dexterity and attention to detail for precise tasks such as scribing and assisting with assessments.
  • Empathy and sensitivity to patients’ needs, especially within a behavioral health context.
  • Basic proficiency in medical terminology and clinical procedures.
  • Willingness to travel to assigned clinic and ASC locations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Scribing: Accurately document patient encounters and provider notes in electronic health records.
  • Patient Check-In/Check-Out: Manage patient intake and discharge processes, ensuring all required documentation is completed.
  • Assist patients in setting up and navigating telehealth appointments to ensure smooth virtual consultations.
  • Prepare patient charts for upcoming appointments, ensuring all necessary documentation is available and complete.
  • Learn and conduct behavioral health assessments when schedules allow.
  • Follow up with patients, pharmacies, and other staff regarding tasks assigned by providers.
  • Manage medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA and other confidentiality standards.
  • Coordinate referrals and track follow-up documentation as needed.
  • Explain treatment plans, medication instructions, and other physician recommendations to patients.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet clinic needs.
