BEHAVIORAL SUPPORT SPECIALIST

About The Position

A Behavioral Support Specialist provides group and individual support and guidance to justice-involved individuals who are undergoing challenges or transitions. They assist individuals throughout their treatment process, help clients gain skills, access resources, and regain the confidence to make a successful transition from incarceration to community living.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Requires a QBHA certification from the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA).

Responsibilities

Provides one-on-one mentoring to people in a community correction setting.
Promotes recovery, wellness, and healthy lifestyle behaviors.
Provides program orientation for all new clients.
Develops and facilitates life skills-based support groups.
Assists with crisis intervention.
Serves as an advocate for clients experiencing programmatic or behavioral struggles.
Supports clients as they work through social or emotional barriers to stay motivated to reach their goals.
Assists clients with self-determined goal setting.
Maintains appropriate and professional boundaries with clients.
Accurately documents all activities as required.
Develops and maintains a resource directory for use by clients.
Reports safety concerns to the appropriate staff.
Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings.
Promotes and demonstrates the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Embrave.
Develops and maintains good working relationships with all departments, the management team, regulatory agencies, and community partners.
Embraces cultural diversity amongst ourselves and our community.
Responsible for the human, financial, and material resources as well as data and information entrusted to us.
Performs other duties as assigned.
