Behavioral Health Senior Occupational Therapist - University Medical Center Rehab Therapies
About The Position
The Department of Rehabilitation Therapies at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is looking for a Senior Occupational Therapist to evaluate, interpret findings, and treat patients with complex behavioral health and/or physical dysfunctions in an acute care setting. The patient population includes a caseload mix of adolescents and adults with complex behavioral health/psychosocial needs in which the provision of care is completed in both a one to one and group setting. Provide quality patient care, evaluation, assessment, and treatment appropriate for patients with complex or specialized needs. Participate in the development of innovative clinical teaching activities to meet the learning needs of staff and students. Exhibit divisional and/or departmental leadership by serving as a clinical resource and maintain high level of clinical productivity. Participate in clinical research and collaborate on special projects. Assist with setting and accomplishing divisional/departmental goals and assists management as necessary. Develop, implement, and expand learning opportunities and skills development for staff and students. Assist in establishing new programs, as well as maintaining and developing current programs. Assist in the administration of the departmental Quality Assurance Program. Participate in the development of service operations, policies, and procedures. Performs special projects and tasks as assigned. The department intends to hire one person from either Occupational Therapist, requisition 25002236 or Senior Occupational Therapist, requisition 25002237, based on the qualifications of the successful candidate. Requirements
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy is required
- 1-3 years' experience as an Occupational Therapist in an acute care hospital setting is required, with a high degree of understanding and skill in one or more areas of assigned responsibility
- Demonstrated clinical education abilities and leadership is required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Licensure in accordance with the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy is required
Nice To Haves
- 3-5 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist
- Skilled in providing direct patient care within acute care or outpatient settings, with a focus on behavioral health/ mental health populations.
- Demonstrates leadership abilities
- Demonstrates experience as part of a multidisciplinary medical team
- Job related experience with and/or commitment to service excellence
