About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Director of Behavioral Health, the incumbent accomplishes the Behavioral Health Office’s strategic objectives by planning, organizing, and supervising the assigned functions required to operate and maintain departmental activities and services. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information. This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the tasks performed by this position and is not all-inclusive.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field, Master's Degree preferred.
  • Must possess at least four (4) years progressive work experience as a supervisor in Social Work Management or Behavioral Health.
  • Must possess a current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Must maintain a valid, unresticted Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to successfully pass the Employee Health Program and background investigation.
  • Knowledge of applicable tribal, federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, including the Joint Commission Accreditation.
  • Knowledge of company personnel policy and procedures
  • Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and mathematics.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language both verbally and in writing with staff and the general public.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and demonstrate leadership and team-building skills with empathy and enthusiasm.

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical licensure in the State of Arizona is preferred.
  • Ability to speak the Navajo language and/or familiarity with the Navajo Way.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the management and oversight of the Behavioral Health Department functions and personnel.
  • Responsible for assuring that the Behavioral Health Department is in compliance with licensure standards, the Joint Commission standards and tribal, federal, state regulations.
  • Maintain and monitor Department Productivity Standards.
  • Maintain and monitor Department Quality Improvement Program.
  • Perform competency and annual evaluation on Behavioral Health personnel.
  • Perform clinical counseling services as required.
  • Perform review and ensure completeness of client record.
  • Ensure patients receive quality services.
  • Responsible in managing the non-clinical staff of the Department.
  • Attend Discharge Planning meeting when necessary.
  • Motivate employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  • Maintain cooperative communication with other departments.
  • Maintain communication with Patient Accounting personnel to assure that billing is current.
  • Provide inventory control of supplies and equipment assigned to the department.
  • Prepare department staffing schedule and approve bi-weekly timecards.
  • Host regular staff meetings to ensure communication among personnel regarding program-related activities.
  • Attend medical staff and other staff meetings as assigned.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending seminars, educational workshops, classes and conferences and establish networks.
  • Participate in BLS training, Infection Control, Patient Safety and Fire Safety Trainings.
  • Interview, select, and train new employees of the department in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Responsible in reviewing and updating Behavioral Health Department Policy and Procedure Manual annually or as necessary.
  • Supervise and direct daily activities of the Behavioral Health Department personnel.
  • Coordinate Behavioral Health activity with appropriate departments.
  • Provide monthly and/or quarterly reports as required.
  • Serve on committees as assigned.
  • Attend and conduct in-service programs as required.
  • Prepare and monitor department budget.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality
  • Perform other duties as required.
