About The Position

Mount Marty University (MMU), in partnership with the Yankton School District, seeks a Behavioral Health Education Teacher and Liaison to advance the Yankton's BEST initiative, which is a grant-funded initiative from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an agency of the US department of Health and Human Services. The actual start date for this position is flexible, however, the grant has currently started, and applicants should be prepared to start full-time by June 2026. Yankton's BEST is an initiative designed to create a local behavioral health pathway by introducing middle and high school students to foundational coursework, hands-on simulation experiences, and guided exposure to community partners to increase youth engagement. The project expands early college opportunities (concurrent/dual-credit), trains students and educators in Mental Health First Aid, and coordinates internships and experiential learning. The position helps align secondary and postsecondary efforts to increase awareness of and entry into behavioral health education and careers. Within the parameters of the grant, there is intentional flexibility for the selected candidate to help shape the final configuration of duties in collaboration with MMU, Yankton High School, and partner agencies.
