About The Position

New Haven is a leading residential treatment center dedicated to healing and transformation for adolescent girls (ages 14–18) and their families. The center provides trauma-informed, relationship-based care in a warm, home-like setting that integrates therapeutic support with accredited academics. Key focus areas include trauma recovery, family systems, emotional regulation, and mental health. This role involves making a difference in the lives of these adolescent girls. Youth Mentors are required to work a minimum of 24 hours per week, including two Sundays per month, with the option to work up to 30 hours. On-Call Youth Mentors have the flexibility to choose shifts that fit their availability while still meeting the 24-hour weekly minimum and Sunday requirement. Shifts are available any day, in either AM (7:00 AM–3:00 PM) or PM (3:00 PM–11:00 PM) blocks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Ability to pass a Utah State background check
  • Willingness to commit to a minimum of 8 months
  • Ability to obtain a Food Handler’s Permit before the first day of work

  • Studying or have a background in psychology, social work, behavioral science, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and behavioral health support to adolescent residents
  • Lead and participate in daily routines, group activities, and therapeutic programming
  • Support the development of healthy coping skills, communication, and emotional regulation
  • Assist with minor food preparation and model healthy lifestyle habits
  • Maintain a safe, structured, trauma‑informed environment
  • Collaborate with therapists and clinical staff to support individualized treatment plans
  • Document daily progress notes and communicate key updates to leadership
  • Use safe verbal de‑escalation and physical intervention skills when needed
