About The Position

New Haven is hiring a Direct Support Professional / Youth Mentor to work directly with teen girls (ages 14–18) in a structured, therapeutic residential setting. New Haven is a nationally recognized residential treatment center in Spanish Fork, UT, providing a warm, home-like environment where mental health care, trauma-informed support, and academics are integrated. The role involves helping teens and families navigate emotional regulation, relational challenges, and behavioral health needs using a family-centered, strengths-based approach. This position is ideal for individuals interested in or pursuing careers in psychology, social work, counseling, behavioral science, or human services, and for those seeking hands-on experience as a Direct Support Professional, Behavioral Health Technician, or Youth Mentor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Ability to pass a Utah State background check
  • Willingness to commit to a minimum of 8 months
  • Ability to obtain a Food Handler’s Permit before the first day of work

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and behavioral health support to adolescent residents
  • Lead and participate in daily routines, group activities, and therapeutic programming
  • Support the development of healthy coping skills, communication, and emotional regulation
  • Assist with minor food preparation and model healthy lifestyle habits
  • Maintain a safe, structured, trauma‑informed environment
  • Collaborate with therapists and clinical staff to support individualized treatment plans
  • Document daily progress notes and communicate key updates to leadership
  • Use safe verbal de‑escalation and physical intervention skills when needed
