About The Position

The Behavioral & Mental Health Therapist will participate in a model of care centered around integrated, multidisciplinary services, with seamless collaborations with psychiatry, psychology, social work, medical specialties, and other behavioral and mental health disciplines.

Requirements

  • 3 years supervised experience with providing intake evaluations and regularly scheduled therapy services for children and adolescents within a medical setting or behavioral mental health facility
  • Master’s degree in social work, mental health counseling, or marriage and family therapy from an accredited university
  • An unrestricted license in the state of Georgia (LCSW, LMFT, LPC)
  • For Children’s at Hughes Spalding, LCSW certification is required
  • BLS or PALS certification
  • Ability to work as part of interdisciplinary team
  • Strong interpersonal skills with patients, teammate, and leadership
  • Knowledge of evidence-based, age-appropriate treatment and practice
  • Ability to remain calm and manage verbal/physical responses in stressful situations
  • Flexibility to adapt to changes in behavioral mental programs and procedures
  • Developed cultural humility and ability to work with diverse populations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Unified protocol, CBT, ACT, DBT, TF-CBT, PCIT, and/or Solution-Focused Therapy
  • Experience with children & adolescents with co-occurring medical issues

Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based and effective delivery of services (e.g., assessments, consultation, and therapy) appropriate to the patient’s specific needs and severity level of disability or impairment, and make referrals as needed.
  • Gather and integrate information from all available sources, including client self-reports, reports from family members, guardian(s), documented medical records, treatment history, etc.
  • Conduct crisis and safety planning with patients and coordinate transfers to higher levels of care as needed.
  • Maintain a therapeutic relationship with patient and family.
  • Respect and incorporate aspects of patient’s and family’s identity in care.
  • Include family/caregiver participation in all phases of the patient’s program while communicating at the patient/family level of understanding.
  • Communicate with support and operational staff effectively to ensure patient continuity of care.
  • Assess client satisfaction and participate in program evaluation as needed.
  • Generate flexible solutions to potential barriers in patient care to benefit patients.
  • Complete notes in electronic medical record within time guidelines, including diagnostic coding, screenings, and treatment plans.
  • Bill appropriately for services in accordance with regulations set forth by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
  • Participate in team meetings and case consultations (as needed).
  • Seek additional evidence-based training associated with role.
