Behavior Technician (BT)
About The Position
This role is for a Behavior Technician (BT) at Burnett Therapeutic Services (BTS), working 1:1 with children with autism or developmental delays. The primary goal is to help children develop communication, problem-solving, social, play, and daily living skills through structured, play-based activities. Sessions typically last 2–3 hours and take place in the child’s home, clinic, or school. The company hires both entry-level candidates and certified Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), offering a valuable opportunity to start or advance a career in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Requirements
- Positive, enthusiastic attitude and a passion for working with children
- 6 months of experience working or volunteering with children with intellectual disabilities is a must
- Must complete a 40-hour RBT training course prior to employment
- RBT certification is not required to apply, but the 40-hour training must be completed before your start date
- Must obtain RBT certification within 6 months of employment as a condition of continued employment, or maintain an active BCAT or ABAT certification
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and auto insurance
- CPR & First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain during onboarding)
- TB test (within 90 days), MMR & Varicella Immunization, and a Pre-employment Physical (within the past year)
- Background check (FBI & DOJ)
Nice To Haves
- Current student or recent graduate in Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Sociology, Biology, or related field
- Candidates with an RBT, ABAT, or BCAT certification, or those who have already completed an ABA Paraprofessional training certificate (RBT, BCAT, ABAT) training course and hold a certificate
- Spanish-speaking
Responsibilities
- Delivering one-on-one behavior support through fun, individualized activities
- Implementing behavior intervention plans designed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs)
- Collecting and recording data on client progress accurately
- Communicating regularly with families to provide updates and support
- Participating in ongoing training, team meetings, and supervision sessions
