About The Position

The Ferguson Florissant School District is accepting applications for the position of Behavior Intervention Specialist. To provide comprehensive support and referral services to students and families in need, with focus on prevention as well as corrections. One semester position January-May 2026.

Requirements

  • Must have a degree in Social Work.
  • MSW preferred.
  • OR School Psychologist certification
  • OR B-2 Teaching Certification

Responsibilities

  • Support teachers in developing and implementing behavior plans related to specific student performance goals
  • Engage parents/students in the “student behavior intervention plan” process and empower parents by providing them with skills and techniques to support the positive behavior development of their child
  • Promote highly specialized positive behavior interventions in which students thrive; behavior instruction that is explicit, intensive, accelerated and provides ample practice
  • Provide recognition of a variety of student accomplishments and positive behaviors
  • Create and implement programs focused on mental wellness, behavior management, mindfulness, restorative and trauma-informed practices.
  • Participate as a Crisis Team member after being trained in the program for non-violent crisis intervention
  • Possesses a working knowledge of community agencies and resources
  • Facilitates staff development sessions and parent focus groups
  • Serves as consultant to school personnel regarding students or situations which are not referred for direct service
  • Must have excellent human relations skills
  • Must have the ability to perform multi-tasks with good organizational ability.
  • Experience in a multicultural setting.
