About The Position

Works under the direction of assigned supervisor to oversee programming to maximize the marketability / adoptability of Memphis Animal Services (MAS) shelter by evaluating individual pets and creating individualized enrichment plans. Designs and implements an "on kennel" documentation system that can be utilized by volunteers and visitors. Creates and leads dog playgroup activities. Develops individualized plans for pets that are struggling behaviorally in the shelter. Recommends outcome pathways for pets. Coaches and trains staff and volunteers to assist with enrichment-based activities. Ensures all pets receive and participate in daily minimum enrichment activities. Assists and performs humane euthanasia of shelter pets with compassion and empathy by following best practices to minimize fear, anxiety, and stress. Maintains pets’ records for documented play time. Utilizes Fear Free Shelter training techniques and follows the Dogs Playing for Life guidelines. Creates and maintains standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety supply kits for play groups. Utilizes the shelter’s main database to review and update documentation of behavioral assessments for pets. Performs daily cleaning of pet housing spaces when directed.
