About The Position
The individuals appointed to these positions will be required to umpire baseball games, keep score, and assist in the administration of games. Additionally, employees will be required to assist office staff as needed and perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Knowledge of baseball rules, penalties, and hand signals which would demonstrate an ability to perform the job
- Physical ability needed to perform the duties of the job
- The ability to resolve conflicts and communicate effectively with supervisors, other employees, and the general public about softball/baseball and maintain control of the teams, coaches, and players is required
- A formal application is required
- Applicants must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check
Nice To Haves
- Previous baseball or softball experience as a player, coach, or umpire preferred
Responsibilities
- Umpire baseball games
- Keep score
- Assist in the administration of games
- Assist office staff as needed
- Attend paid umpire training clinics
- Learn and know how to administer the rules of baseball and softball
- Arrive 15 minutes prior to scheduled game time, dressed and ready to start games on time
- Wear appropriate clothing & protective gear as applicable
- Establish positive and appropriate communication with coaches and players
- Be consistent, fair, and firm in calls made
- Be available for evening and weekend games
