Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel Position Description POSITION TITLE: Bartender DIVISION: Food & Beverage DEPARTMENT: Casino Bars GRADE/FLSA STATUS: H8 – Non-Exempt BADGE TYPE/COLOR: Key--Blue REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Beverage, Dual Rate Supervisor, Beverage SUPERVISES: N/A JOB SUMMARY: As a Bartender, you play a crucial role in crafting an enjoyable atmosphere for all guests by delivering courteous, friendly, and timely beverage service. JOB ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Level 1): Provide fast, friendly, professional beverage service to casino guests and servers (2-minute production cycle per 3 alcoholic beverages) Build relationships with guests by engaging and creating an entertaining environment Keep the bar area clean and the workstation stocked in accordance with established health and safety guidelines Operate a cash register/POS system, ring the proper amount into the register, and give a guest or server the correct change; accountable for all cash, charge, and complimentary sales according to established procedure; maintain the integrity of all financial controls and responsibilities Monitor guest consumption of alcohol and intervene as needed according to guidelines Follow the guidelines and liquor laws as defined by the EBCI Tribal ABC Commission and NC ABC Commission and adhere to all regulatory, departmental, and company policies and procedures in an ethical manner Able to answer questions about Harrah’s facilities and services Explain and encourage Caesars Reward participation Endorse the business objectives, ethics, and values of Caesars Entertainment in accordance with the Code of Commitment and Mission, Vision, and Values JOB ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Level 2): Bartenders at this level have met the Level 2 requirements of the department’s Step Progression Policy Provide fast, friendly, professional beverage service to casino guests and servers (2-minute production cycle per 6 alcoholic beverages) JOB ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Level 3): Bartenders at this level have met the Level 3 requirements of the department’s Step Progression Policy Provide fast, friendly, professional beverage service to casino guests and servers (2-minute production cycle per 10 alcoholic beverages Mentor Level 1 and Level 2 bartenders Work any station as business demands MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED required Six months of prior customer service experience is preferred Four months as a bartender at a full-service bar is preferred Complete documented training program preferred Alcohol safety certification is required (The department will offer training. Must be certified within thirty days of the hire date) Must demonstrate the following essential knowledge and skills: Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills are required Willing to learn and be adaptable, with keen attention to detail and a professional appearance Knowledge of beverage operations, common drinks, and standardized recipes Must attend trainer classes, complete and pass weekly proficiency testing, and score above 80 percent PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: Ability to stand for 8-10 hours, perform various movements (stooping, bending, reaching, etc.), respond to visual and aural cues, tap a 165-pound keg, lift up to 50 pounds, and carry 5 pounds Capability to handle fast-paced environments, make rational decisions under pressure, and operate in mentally and physically stressful situations Proficiency in the English language, manual dexterity for operating office equipment, willingness to work in diverse environmental conditions, and flexible schedules, including weekends, evenings, and holidays This is not necessarily an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, requirements, or working conditions associated with the job.
