About The Position

The Banquet Server performs all tasks associated with setting up, serving, and breaking down of function rooms where banquet food service activities are performed. Banquet Servers are responsible for the prompt, courteous, smooth and efficient service of food and beverage to guests during banquet functions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Prior experience in a high-end, high-volume banquet operation is strongly preferred.
  • Must meet Food Handler and Responsible Vendor training and certification requirements.
  • Speaks with others using clear and professional language.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Professional attitude is required.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds of weight.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Works well with others.
  • Good communication skills are an asset.
  • Good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and understands Banquet Event Orders (BEO’s) at the beginning of each shift to ensure banquet rooms are set as per the customer request.
  • Reads and executes specifications listed on the Banquet Event Orders.
  • Attends all pre-shift meetings to receive direction from Captains, Sales staff and event planner.
  • Prepares coffee breaks, carts, and stations with appropriate food and beverages as stated in Banquet Event Order.
  • Maintains proper dining experience by delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses, etc.
  • Greets all guests and owners warmly with an appropriate greeting.
  • Responds promptly and accurately to guests queries about the products and services provided as well as general information about the hotel.
  • Properly opens and pours wine at the table side, as needed.
  • Takes beverage orders and collects payments where specified.
  • When guests are billed “on-consumption”, track the amounts of food or beverage served to ensure proper billing.
  • Prepares tables, action stations, buffets, service carts, dessert table/carts and cordial carts.
  • Replenishes buffet items to ensure consistency and freshness in presentation.
  • Removes china, glassware, silverware, etc. from tables at the conclusion of the meal period and delivers to the stewarding area.
  • Ensures guest satisfaction throughout the meal service.
  • Responds to guest requests in a friendly, timely, and efficient manner.
  • Ensures each course is cleared and tables are properly crumbed between courses.
  • Ensures that all tableware is clean and presentable to guests.
  • Monitors and maintains cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned station and service areas.
  • Ensures proper use, storage of all banquet equipment.
  • Maintains high standards of safety and cleanliness in all areas.
  • Communicates any areas of need, problems, and concerns from guests to a supervisor.
  • Completes assigned side work including, but not limited to cleaning, stocking, folding silverware, etc.
  • Ensure that meeting rooms are re-set for site inspections or future events.
  • Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently.
  • Performs additional tasks as required by management.
