Requirements

  • 1–2 years banquet/high-volume cooking experience; institutional/school food service preferred
  • Skill in large-scale prep, plating, and safe food handling (ServSafe preferred/State Food Handler required)
  • Ability to follow recipes, schedules, and production sheets
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment, knife safety, and foodservice operations
  • Commitment to cleanliness and safety
  • Commitment to service in a faith-based academic setting preferred
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; professional demeanor
  • Physical ability to stand long hours and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Flexible availability (evenings/weekends/holidays as needed)
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen (required)
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship (E-Verify used)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook large quantities of food for banquets, receptions, and catered events according to recipes and menu specifications.
  • Assist with event setup, food presentation, and service as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards in all kitchen and prep areas.
  • Follow food safety protocols including proper handling, storage, and labeling.
  • Monitor and control food quality, portion sizes, and waste.
  • Work collaboratively with other kitchen and event staff to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assist with inventory, receiving, and storing banquet supplies.
  • Flexibility to support other campus culinary operations when banquet schedule permits.
  • Ensures safety of food prepared by following safe sanitary food handling practices- hot food hot and cold food cold.
  • Follows specified cleaning procedures for all cooking equipment.
  • Utilizes proper food storage practices- cover, label, and date.
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
